let's get outta here

It is officially summer in Seattle! The sun has come out and rumor has it there is 80 degree temps in the on their way. I know, sweltering. We are big fans of the mild weather, it is perfect for adventuring.
Nearby Lincoln Park is a favorite spot. The boys & Matt have perfected the knock the rocks off the log game. (Think "Penny Can!") It is all kinds of poor people fun.

Sometimes just Mom gets out. Moms day off, I like the sound of that. This day was Panera & a pedicure. ( I totally have shorts on, I promise.)
Sometimes the adventuring can get weird. Dude, it is not that hot!

Sunsets and shadow play along Beach Drive. Some friends showed us a new park with trails for the boys to explore...and hopefully tire them out before bed.
And the grande finale- Toys 'R' Us has a cotton candy machine!!! Hello, Lover! Where have you been all my life?
Sometimes I have these big plans for the most awesome summer ever, then I get overwhelmed week 1 and super discouraged. This summer I just don't care. We are all together and that is what counts.

  1. LOVE the shadow play- so creative. And I have to know- did those pretty toes end up being pampered in pink nail polish? Glad you're getting out for a day off...makes us happier Mom's.

  2. Of course they got pink polish!! And I was a happier mom. The lady at the salon probably wished I'd worn longer shorts, though ;)

  3. Glad you guys found a great place for the family! If you weren't wearing shorts, I wouldn't judge, so happy you got a me-day!

  4. Nicole, you have always been so supportive of me time! I love it! It will come in handy when your lil blessing shows up. If mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!

  6. I usually just wait until a breakdown looms in the near future, then Matt & the boys fear for their lives and send me out the door ;) Not healthy but I mostly need for it to get REAL BAD before I will take of myself :/

  7. Which tells me it is NOT an easy task to achieve, heh? I realize that I have had 5 years of being spoiled, I get some me-time most days and then lots of time with Jayson in the evenings, but when Baby comes I am guessing that won't work out so easily :( I am afraid I will have to choose between time with Jayson or me-time...ahhhhhh! No wonder it is a challenge :)
