I am trying to bring sparkle and shine to the rough and gray 'round these parts. I push for Christmas, for jolly & bright & unreasonably cheerful. But the Hum Bug's are winning out. So I brought out the big guns: the gingerbread house tradition. That is the thing about a tradition, on the outside it all stupid & contrived but then it grabs you. The magic of the season, the smells, and the sounds, it grips you & you find yourself feeling downright merry.
Great job bringing out the big guns, sometimes it is just necessary! Love you guys and hope your efforts to bring sparkle n shine will soften this rough n gray time!!!
ReplyDeleteMust be feeling emotional at the moment, cause this post made me happy cry.
ReplyDeleteIt's got to be hard being away from "home" for the Holidays- it always was for me...not because other people don't have lights up and you don't have a tree and all, it's just different.
Keep pushing, Mama!!!
Keep focusing on the good my friend. Here's to an easier 2012 for your sweet family!!!
ReplyDeleteAwe thanks y'all. Love hearing the encouragement & feeling connected to you guys.
ReplyDeleteI loved this line that you wrote "That is the thing about a tradition, on the outside it all stupid & contrived but then it grabs you." So true, so true. You are giving this move so much of your heart. May you feel the love of those that think of you back home. Mary
